The ICE Dec contract gave up 44 points on Fri, settling at 67.28 – a 180 point weekly setback. The Mar contract lost 30 points at 67.61, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread weakened, but far below full carry, at (33). Volume for Dec delivery again slowed at just above a mere 6K lots while Dec OI was again near unchanged at just below 153K contracts.

Thursday, September 15, 2016 – ICE Cotton Manages Slight Gain Despite Slowing US Export Sales

The ICE Dec contract picked up another 19 points today, despite slowing US export sales and shipments, settling at 67.72. The Mar contract gained 17 points at 67.91, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread near unchanged at (19). Volume for Dec delivery slowed at just above 8K lots while Dec OI was near unchanged at just below 153K contracts.

Thursday, September 15, 2016 – ICE Cotton Shows Signs of Life Ahead of US Export Report

The ICE Dec contract picked up 63 points on Wed and ahead of the weekly US cotton export report, settling at 67.53. The Mar contract also gained 63 points at 67.74, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread unchanged at (21). Volume for Dec delivery slowed at just above 11K lots while Dec OI contracted at just below 153K contracts.
