By admin in Daily ReportsThe Dec contract gave up another 89 points today, settling at 63.16. Such is not uncommon post near limit down days, although our model suggested otherwise for today. The settlement was within the lower one quarter of the trading range, although Dec traded above 63.50 during the post settlement period. Mar lost 108 points, settling at 62.86, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread strengthened at 30. Volume slowed D/D in the Dec contract at approximately 21.9K contracts while Dec OI contracted at approximately 136K contracts.

Monday, August 24, 2015 – Cotton Futures Tumble on Weak China Data, Outside Markets
By admin in Daily ReportsThe Dec contract plummeted today on continued economic weakness in China, giving up 286 points and settling at 66.05. The Dec contract’s previously overbought condition likely contributed to today’s sharp loss. The settlement was near the bottom of the trading range. The Dec contract left a 16 point gap below Fri’s close. Mar lost 241 points, settling at 63.94, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread weakened, but inverted at 11.
