Monday, August 29, 2016 – ICE Cotton Exhibits Considerable Weakness Prior to Rally at Close

The ICE Dec contract gave up 66 points today, settling at 66.29. Dec sank to an intraday low of 65.46 before rebounding nearly 100 points into the settlement and post settlement periods. The settlement was within the upper one half of the trading range, which was completely south of yesterday’s settlement. The Mar contract lost 76 points at 66.67, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread strengthened at (38). Volume for Dec delivery quickened at just above 17K lots while Dec OI contracted at approximately 156K contracts.

Monday, August 29, 2016 – ICE Cotton Begins Week on Sour Note Despite Projected Increase of Imports Into China

The ICE Dec contract gave up 108 points today, settling at 66.95. The settlement was within the lower one quarter of the trading range. The Mar contract lost 93 points at 67.43, the net effect leaving the Dec – Mar spread weakened at (48). Volume for Dec delivery near unchanged at just above 13K lots while Dec OI expanded at approximately 156.5K contracts.
